SIC will mark the first anniversary of the death of Simoncelli

Sepang International Circuit (SIC) plans to hold a special event at the Malaysian MotoGP this year, to commemorate the one year of the death of Marco Simoncelli.

Simoncelli was killed at the beginning of lap Malaysian MotoGP race on October 23, 2011. When cornering it fell and crushed a speeding motorcycle in tow.

In a meeting with reporters in Jakarta, CEO of Sepang International Cirkuit Razlan Datuk Razali said it will hold a special event to commemorate the death of Simoncelli, the MotoGP title in Malaysia this year in October.

"We will be a warning to Simoncelli on October 19. We will give a trophy that will be our thanks to Honda., And the public can witness the delivery of the trophy," said Datuk Razlan at Hotel Le Meredien, Jakarta, Wednesday (19/9 / 2012).

Moreover, he continued, it also was discussing the possibility of giving the name of a bend at the Sepang circuit with a name of the deceased.

"We already have plans to immortalize the name Simonceli in one corner, but still we discuss."

Datuk Razlan added, he promised to improve the quality of security sirkut, although more Simoncelli incident is an accident.

"I want to remind, not one SIC Simoncelli incident but due to misfortune. Yet we continue to raise the quality and health," he said.
